A word from the faculty’s vice dean for education and student affairs

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
It is with great pride that I participate in the establishment of this scientific institution to serve my sons and daughters from the Sohag Governorate and neighbouring governorates, praying to God Almighty to help us all to work towards placing our faculty among the advanced colleges through the efforts of its sincere members.
Faculty of Pharmacy at Sohag University, that promising young staff, aims to be among the leading faculties in the field of pharmaceutical education at the local and regional levels by focusing on developing curricula and scientific research tools
This goal can only be achieved through the combined efforts of all employees of Faculty of Pharmacy, Sohag University, including distinguished staff members led by a promising young leadership, a support staff that is up to the task, and an administrative staff that is always up to the task and responsible.
My dear students, I urge you to actively participate in all the various faculty and university activities, which aim to refine and develop your diverse talents and creativity. Faculty of Pharmacy at Sohag University has achieved numerous top rankings in various sports and cultural fields.
The rapid developments in pharmaceutical education and the drug industry that the world is currently witnessing necessitate that Faculty of Pharmacy at Sohag University keep pace with this rapid progress to meet the changing needs of society. Therefore, our efforts have culminated in obtaining the Clinical Pharmacy program.
Implementation of this program began in the 2017/2018 academic year, making the Faculty at Sohag University a full partner in developing the healthcare system by applying clinical pharmacy in public hospitals, pharmacists will have a fundamental and effective role in participating in treatment planning Working in drug information centers, participating in drug research, and providing scientific pharmaceutical consultations to those working in the medical field.

Mission
The faculty’s Student Affairs Department seeks to contribute to building the students’ character in a sound and balanced manner, while creating an attractive university environment and stimulating programs to contribute to developing the skills and abilities of students so that they become active members of society
Department Objectives
1. To provide services and support to students according to quality standards.
2. To strengthen the relationship between the department, graduates, and the job market.
3. To establish regulations and operational guidelines for student services and guidance.
4. To ensure the administrative quality of student affairs units to meet accreditation and quality requirements.
Services
- Preparing lists of final-year students for military service processing.
- Issuing enrolment certificates to students who request them.
- Reviewing and announcing exam results to students after approval by the faculty council.
- Issuing graduation certificates after the student receives their bachelor’s degree.
- Issuing grade reports for the years the student spent at the college, in both Arabic and foreign languages.
- In addition, the Student Affairs Department carries out all the tasks assigned to it by the University President, the Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, the Dean of the faculty, and the Vice Dean of the faculty for Education and Student Affairs.

Department Tasks
- Prepares and issues the temporary certificates and transcripts of the grades obtained by graduates throughout their years of study, in both Arabic and English.
- Delivers the original certificate after review, approval, and verification.
- Drafts and reviews ministerial decrees
- Review the data of final-year students from their student files before issuing graduation certificates.
- Review original certificates to replace damaged or lost ones, obtain approval from the Dean of the faculty, and then forward them to the University’s Graduates Office for final approval by the University President
- Verifies the accuracy of data received from various embassies after reviewing copies of certificates and the graduate’s results.
- Participates in preparing the cumulative results for final-year students before the results are released.
- Prepares lists of successful candidates, including all data, on a CD and in hard copy, and submits them to the Assignment Department at the Ministry of Health in Cairo

Youth Care Services
Services
The faculty’s Student Welfare Department plays a prominent role in shaping the university student’s character through their participation in various student activities. These activities provide students with opportunities to gain new experiences and skills through the Student Union. This department offers the following services to students.
1-Responsible for the student activities system and its supervision.
2- Providing a clear mechanism for student activities and support.
3-Monitoring student activities from the beginning of the academic year, announcing them, and arranging all necessary resources for each activity
4-Follow up with students regarding student support provided through the Social Solidarity Fund.
5-Prepare periodic surveys to assess the suitability of class schedules, student opinions on the educational process, and any shortcomings in student activities
6-Distributing class schedules and exam timetables to students.
7-Booking meal vouchers for the university’s central cafeteria
8-Organizing a reception for the new students at the beginning of the new academic year and a farewell ceremony for graduating students at the end of the academic year

- This activity aims to encourage sports talents among students and instill a team spirit among them – organizing sports matches and festivals

- This activity aims to develop students’ leadership skills, prepare self-leadership and young people capable of taking responsibility, serving the community, guiding them towards commitment and quick response to national and social duty and public service, and instilling a spirit of community and respect for others
Student Family Activities
- These activities aim to foster a spirit of cooperation, brotherhood, and friendship among faculty students, coordinate and supervise activities between student families within the faculty, highlight and develop students’ talents and assist families in organizing their various activities and encourage thinking among the students through competitions held between student families, forming cooperative groups, providing multiple opportunities for students to test their skills and discover and develop their talents
How to Register and Participate
Activities are announced on the notice boards of the Student Welfare Department at the faculty, and students can then apply to the department through these notices.

- Students are registered with the Student Welfare Department through the designated activity coordinator.
- Training courses are organized to select the best candidates to represent the faculty at the university level.
- Training courses are held for outstanding students, along with competitions and friendly matches with other faculties to gain competitive experience
- Conducting refresher courses for study groups throughout the academic year and selecting the best new members at the university level.

Objectives of the Social Solidarity Fund:
- To address the financial difficulties faced by students.
- To provide assistance to students in need and support them socially and financially.
- To identify and address students’ needs.
How to benefit from the faculty’s Social Solidarity Fund
- The student who is unable to provide assistance submits a request to the faculty’s Youth Welfare Department (Social Solidarity Fund), explaining the type of assistance required and its reasons to the head of the faculty’s Social Committee, along with supporting documents proving the situation

Note: Students wishing to receive assistance from the faculty should go to he Student Welfare Department at the faculty to obtain the necessary forms
Types of assistance:
- Food vouchers.
- Provision of eyeglasses through the Central Youth Welfare Office.
- Attempting to provide necessary medications in critical cases.
- Meal support through food vouchers.
- University housing expenses
- Payment of tuition fees or purchase of textbooks
Eligibility requirements for assistance:
- The student must be of Egyptian nationality.
- The student must not have any disciplinary record
- No disciplinary action has been taken against him.
Student Union
Student Union Objectives
- Student unions are formed from the students who have paid their student union dues.
- The objectives of student unions are:
- Strengthening social bonds between students and the staff members
- Developing spiritual and moral values and national awareness among the students
- Organizing and disseminating diverse activities, fostering leadership skills, and encouraging high-achieving students.
- Resolving student issues in accordance with university regulations.
- Utilizing students’ potential to serve and develop the community.
- Helping students acquire diverse talents, abilities, and skills, and providing them with opportunities to express their opinions responsibly
Eligibility Requirements for Membership in Student Union Committees
- Must be an Egyptian citizen of good character and reputation.
- Must have paid student union dues.
- Must not have been previously convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment or have had their membership in any student union or its committees suspended.
- To be someone with notable activity in the field of work of the committee to which he is nominated.
